This is pretty rich: Tea Party-fave (well, now, former fave) Ohio Governor John Kasich is resorting to threatening his GOP colleagues -- who don't think the poor deserve to see doctors -- with the big h.e.double.hockey.sticks if they continue to block Medicaid expansion in Ohio:
Talking to reporters, Kasich pleaded for legislators to approve the expansion.A few things: first, what would Saint 'Gipper' Reagan say about putting the needs of poor people ahead of small government? Second, yes, Kasich is playing the 'I care about poor people card', but only because rich hospital executives have a lot to lose if this Medicaid expansion fails. Lastly, did he just suggest that Republicans who oppose this expansion might just not make it to heaven with all the dogs?"The most-important thing for this legislature to think about: Put yourself in somebody else's shoes. Put yourself in the shoes of a mother and a father of an adult child that is struggling. Walk in somebody else's moccasins. Understand that poverty is real."
Kasich continued: "I had a conversation with one of the members of the legislature the other day. I said, "I respect the fact that you believe in small government. I do, too. I also know that you're a person of faith.
"Now, when you die and get to the meeting with St. Peter, he's probably not going to ask you much about what you did about keeping government small. But he is going to ask you what you did for the poor. You better have a good answer."
Whatever, as long as Kasich going all 'Jan Brewer' on the idiots he calls his friends leads to deserving people getting health care, I really don't give a shit how ridiculous -- and grossly insincere -- the words sound coming out of this man's mouth.
